Year 3 Timetable
This Half Term
English and Reading
Our key text that we will be focusing on this term is 'The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig' by Eugene Trivizas.
This book will be inspiring our writing within our English lessons and we shall also be picking the text apart in our reading lessons (RAID). In our reading lessons, we will be discussing the different comprehension components and also discussing the impacts that the story has on us as the reader.
In maths this term, we will be deepening our understanding of place value, addition and subtraction. We will be looking at the value of each digit within a three-digit number (hundreds, tens and ones). Using the column method, we will be adding and subtracting two numbers with and without exchanging.
Our geography topic is based around the Polar Regions; looking at the physical and human geographical features of The Arctic Circle and Antarctica. We will also be learning about the effects of human activity on the Polar Regions.
In Science, we will be looking at the topic of rocks and soils. We will be looking at rocks and their properties, for example the density, durability and permeability. Also, we will be looking at the different types of rocks, including metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rock.
In Art, we will be using our observational skills and we will be practicing our drawing skills.
In RE, we are looking at different holy places.
In music, we are practicing our singing skills!
