This Half Term

Reading and Writing
Our key text that we will be focusing on this term is 'Zeus on the Loose' by John Dougherty.
We shall also be picking the text apart in our reading lessons (RAID). In RAID, we will be discussing the different comprehension components and also discussing the impacts that the story has on us as the reader.

Maths
We will be learning the three, four and eight times tables and related division facts. We will also use the short method of multiplication to multiply. We will be learning about measurement, looking at equivalent lengths, adding lengths and perimeter.
Last term, Year 3 looked place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We also looked at the value of each digit within a three-digit number (hundreds, tens and ones).
Science
In our science lessons, we will be learning about forces and magnets. We will be investigating how objects move on different surfaces, friction, the strength of different magnets and which objects are magnetic.
Geography
Our geography topic for this half-term is mountains. In our geography lessons, we will be exploring the layers of the Earth, how mountains are formed and the features of a mountain. We will also be learning about some well known mountains too!
Art
In Art, we will be practicing our painting skills. We will using the primary, secondary and tertiary skills to create a colour wheel. We will be using our drawing skills to create an abstract drawing of different landmarks in Willenhall. Finally, we will be using the primary, secondary and tertiary skills to paint our final piece.
RE
In RE, we will be looking at holy books and why they are important. We will be looking at the holy books in different religions, their importance, what they contain and how they are looked after.
Music
In music, we will be learning how to play a Ukulele!
French
In French, we are learning the numbers to ten in French. Last term, we learnt the alphabet and how to greet other people in French and introduce ourselves.
Computing
In computing, we will be using Scratch. We will be programming sprites to move, adding features and debugging movements.
