This Half Term

English and Reading

Our key text that we will be focusing on this term is 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs' by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith.

This book will be inspiring our writing within our English lessons and we shall also be picking the text apart in our reading lessons (RAID). In our reading lessons, we will be discussing the different comprehension components and also discussing the impacts that the story has on us as the reader.

Maths

In maths this term, we will be deepening our understanding of addition and subtraction. Using the column method, we will be adding and subtracting two numbers with and without exchanging. We will also be looking at multiplication and division. We will be focusing on the three-times tables and related division facts.

Science & Forest School

During our forest school lessons and lessons in class, we will be looking at the different parts of a plant (the roots, stem, leaves and flower). We will also be looking at the functions of these different parts.

3A and 3E will have forest school sessions alternating weeks.

History

Our History topic is based around Ancient Greece; looking at what life was like during the time and key artefacts. We will be learning about the access and delivery of education during this time and also Alexander the Great.

Art

In Art, we will be creating a line drawing of a Willenhall landmark. We will be using this line drawing to create a polystyrene printing tile. We will use our printing tile to create a print of a local landmark.

RE

In RE, we are looking at Jesus and will be learning that he was the founder of Christianity. We will be gaining an understanding of what Jesus was like through stories and his actions. We will also be exploring why some people think he is inspirational and discussing who is inspirational to us.

Music

In music, we are practicing our singing skills! We will be learning the song 'I've been to Harlem.'

French

In French, we are learning the alphabet in French. Last term, we learning how to greet other people in French and introduce ourselves.

Computing

In computing, we are looking at branching databases. We are developing our understanding of what a branching database is and how to create one. We will be using yes/no questions to gain an understanding of what attributes are and how to use them to sort groups of objects. We will then create physical and on-screen branching databases before finally creating an identifying tool to sort different types of dinosaurs!
