Welcome to Year 3!
This Half Term
English and Reading
Our key text that we will be focusing on this term is 'The Great Chocoplot' by Chris Callaghan. .
This book will be inspiring our writing within our English lessons and we shall also be picking the text apart in our reading lessons (RAID). In our reading lessons, we will be discussing the different comprehension components and also discussing the impacts that the story has on us as the reader.
Maths
We are learning the three, four and eight times tables and also related division facts. 'Hit the button' and 'TT Rockstars' are great ways to practice your times tables at home!
This term, we will be learning about measurement, looking at equivalent lengths, adding lengths and perimeter. As part of our 'sizzling starters' and 'weekly workouts', we will be revising methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
In the autumn term, Year 3 looked place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We looked at the value of each digit within a three-digit number (hundreds, tens and ones). We used the column method to add and subtract two numbers with and without exchanging. We also used the short method of multiplication to multiply.
History
Our History topic is based around the Anglo-Saxons; looking at what life was like during the time and key artefacts. We will be learning about the housing in the Anglo-Saxon era, the access and delivery of education during this time and also the Bayeux Tapestry.
