    Year 5 - Snow Day Learning - Day 1 - Friday 9th January

    Snow day activities

    Please see above activities for children to complete if school is closed due to snow.

    Could you take photographs for the practical activities and complete any of the written tasks on paper to bring in to school when we return.

    This Half Term

    Divers Daughter

    Our key text we will be focusing on is 'Diver's Daughter' by Patrice Lawrence.

    It will be inspiring our RAID sessions, where we will be picking the text apart in our Reading sessions and discussing the different comprehension components as well as why the author has chosen to write the text in the way he has and the impact that it has on the story.

    History
    This term children will be looking at the Tudor period and it's key events and influential people. Children will learn how the Tudor period of history began from the War of the Roses. We will learn about the reign of Henry VIII, tudor homes, technology and education.

    Science  

    Children will be looking at materials and their properties. They will look at solutions, evaporation, changes and purposes.

    Art   
    During the term we will be developing our collage skills and understanding the principles.

    PE
    Over the term children will be developing their skills in gymnastics.

    RE
    In RE children will be learning about Christian and Muslim faiths and their similarities and differences.

    French (MFL)
    Children will be learning vocabulary for names of body parts and how to use them appropriately.

     

    Jigsaw (PSHE) 
    Children will be discussing and completing tasks relating to the topics 'Dreams and Goals' and thinking about their futures and how they can achieve their goals.

     

    Design and Technology 
    Children will be creating their own night light.

     

    Computing 
    Children will be focusing on computer programming.
