Nursery Team - Miss Roberts and Miss Seale.
Throughout this half term we will be delving into the world of our Learning Adventure: All about me.
We are Clever Writers!

We are beginning our writing journey and we will be focusing on using our fine motor skills from threading, using tweezers, to stretching elastic bands. Also supporting our writing journey, we will be working on our gross motor skills from running and balancing to using our shoulder pivots. We will be working our core muscles to help us sit correctly and comfortably at a table, so we can expand our mark making skills and be ready for our writing.
We are Readers!
Our key text that we will be focusing on is ‘Owl Babies’ By Martin Waddell and illustrated by Patrick Benson.
This is providing the base for learning across a few of our subjects. We will be exploring our 'book talk' - learning about the Title, the Author and Illustrator, and the blurb.

We Recognise Emotions!
Over this half term we will be focussing on our Personal, Social and Emotional Development as we settle in to our new class and life in Nursery. We will learn about our feelings and how we manage the different feelings we have, how we belong to different groups (family, school etc), how to be a good friend, kindness and how we can be responsible.
We are Historians! And scientist
As we look at ourselves and our families we will see how we change as we grow from being babies, to children, to adults and grandparents.
While looking at ourselves we will explore what our senses are and how we use them and how they help us expand our minds and grow.
We will be exploring the season Autumn and looking and noticing the changes in our environment and why this happens and what happens to some of our familiar wildlife creatures. To support our autumn learning we will be reading Little Acorn. Follow the Swallow, The Big Dreaming.
We can Stay Safe!

In Computing we are going to be looking at online safety and learning how we can stay safe when we are on our own devices. This includes the story of Chicken clicking which will help the children understand the importance of sharing information online in a safe and sensible way. For digital literacy we will be learning about all the different devices that can be used to access the internet.

We will also meet the Pantosaurus a dinosaur that teaches us how to keep ourselves safe, happy and healthy - what is in your pants is private and nobody should ask to see or try to touch your private parts unless they are a trusted adult!
The Pantosaurus teaches us a song about this and what to do if somebody does something that makes us feel unsafe - we tell a grown up that we trust! This adult can be at home or in school.

In RE we will be exploring the concept of Special People - who is special to us and why?
In PE we will be continuing to look at ourselves and the things we can do and develop new skills like moving around obstacles safely and in different ways.
Thursday 9th September
Today was National Teddy Bear day
Nursery had some special visitors where all the children brought in one of their favourite Teddy bears from home. We had big and small ones from teddy bears, to raccoons to Spiderman and giraffes.
The bears sat nicely for register and then went and played and explored all the learning labs available with their child. The children coloured some lovely bear pictures and we all shared some bear stories with ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ being everyone’s favourite. Here are our bears smiling for the camera and having five while the children had their snack.
